Welcome to the Horam Parish Council website. Horam is a village and civil parish situated in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. Within the parish are the settlements of Vines Cross and Burlow.
Jon is doing the UKs toughest 1-Day cycling challenge on 5th September 2010 and wants your support. Raising money for new playground equipment for the children of Horam.

Nostalgia! That is a feeling that comes to mind when I see photographs of a Southdown bus in the high street or the oak tree outside Whatleys garage the finger post on the corner of Little London Road and the high street.
I wonder how our Village will be viewed in the future? Will it still provoke a nostalgic view 50 years from now? Will people see that the changes made now have had an effect on their lives in positive way? This of course is where Horam P C come in with the help of residents in shaping where we go from here not just worrying about now.
Changes in the speed restrictions, the way the parking is monitored in the high street to help keep the shops open and viable for those who come later.
The Merrydown site is still at the time of writing the one big thing that will effect the future of the Village,it may not be all bad but changes it will certainly bring.
Those reading this out of the area would like to know how lucky people feel living here. The open country side just minutes from the high street, the cuckoo line for walking cycling and horse riding (formally a rail way line). Walks over the many footpaths,and we still have a good range of shops and services which puts us ahead of many villages. Local schools are always very popular and the primary regularly gets good ofsted reports. The village boasts a purpose built doctors surgery. We are also very lucky to have a large recreational ground where many activities are played bowls, tennis (flood lit) a strong scout group and a very active football club for the youngsters. If you wish to drive out then Eastbourne is only 13 miles away and Royal Tunbridge Wells is a similar distance.
Rail links to London are only a few miles away.
We are always trying to improve our village and are open to new ideas. The Village could do with a cricket club maybe a drama group, always a good way for local people to meet. Horam was also known to have a very good stall ball team..any help any one.
So we come back to the beginning, so if change leads to a bit of Nostalgia then I am all for it.
